ABOUT US

Children’s Christian Playschool The Children’s Christian Playschool of Summerfield United Methodist Church has been in operation for twenty years and under the direction of Mrs. Jennie Cole all of this time. Our Playschool is a safe, loving environment where children are nurtured in the Christian faith and can learn social skills and the basics of early childhood education. Our classes are divided by ages and the lessons generated by the teachers are age appropriate. There is a lead teacher and an assistant assigned to each class. The four-year old classes use a pre-kindergarten curriculum. Time is set aside each day for play outside, weather permitting, or inside in the Fellowship Hall with riding toys and balls. Chapel is held monthly in our church sanctuary and is led by the church pastor. Field trips are planned throughout the year; and at times, professionals such as firefighters, dentists, etc. are invited to talk with the children. At the present time, we have a staff member who is teaching basic Japanese and a grandparent who is teaching simple Spanish. We strive to expose the children to a wide variety of lifestyles and cultures. The main fundraisers for our school are the Spring and Fall Consignment Sales of children’s clothing, books and toys. These sales are staffed by parent and staff volunteers and raise money for supplies and equipment and the daily running of the school. Parents are urged to not only consign and shop but also to help set-up, receive items, advertise and help with breakdown in order to make these sales successful.
